Michigan City Early Warning Siren

The first Saturday of each month, the Michigan City Emergency Management Agency, in conjunction with the LaPorte County 911 Dispatch Center, conducts an early warning siren test. During the test, the steady and wailing sounds are activated for 3 minutes each with a 1 minute intermission. During an actual event, such as a tornado warning, the siren phases will continue to sound repeatedly until the Hazard has passed. People outside should seek shelter immediately. Tune into local radio stations for further instructions form Emergency Management. Do not call 911 for general information unless you have an emergency. The 911 center can be overwhelmed by call volumes during an emergency.
