Sergeant Dave Legros is currently the head of the narcotics task force and has been in this position for two years now. Over the last year, Sgt. Legros has turned his attention toward the growing heroin problem in our city. This drug is the root cause of several deaths amongst young adults and countless other crimes stemming off the need for the drug. |

In addition to all the hours spent on the growing heroin problem, we have continued to eliminate cocaine, marijuana and other narcotic dealers in our city. Sgt. Legros pays special attention to citizen complaints and does his best to make these a top priority as well. He continuously works on targeting our troubled areas in order to improve the quality of life for the honest citizens in these areas. He is always willing to help other agencies when needed. We have helped LaPorte on several occasions including playing an integral part of a large cocaine ring that we helped to take down.
He has developed strong working relationships with numerous outside agencies which in the past had been strained. Sgt. Legros helped to bridge the gaps between us and develop a good working relationship with these organizations. Since drug and crime issues have no boundaries it was very important to mend these relationships to run an effective unit. Information sharing is a very important part of this job.
We feel his professionalism, work ethic and drive are an example for any officer and that he would make an excellent candidate for Officer of the Year. He has set the bar quite high for those who follow him.
