New Tiger at the Zoo

We are proud to introduce the newest addition to the zoo family, Zusha, a white Bengal tiger cub. Zusha is here at the Washington Park Zoo on a five-year loan from the Wildwood Wildlife Park in Wisconsin, where she was born on January 12th, 2010.

We are very fortunate to have Zusha at the zoo, because we are only the second zoo in Indiana that has a white tiger on display, the other being in South Bend.

Zusha can be seen daily in Animal Clinic until she grows older then she will be moved to the soon to be renovated Feline House and possibly paired with a white gene-carrying male.

New Zoo Mascots

The Washington park zoo has a new zoo crew of fuzzy and friendly costume mascots including a lion, alligator, tortoise and tiger that will be used as educational and guest ambassadors for the zoo.

So if you always wanted to be the life of the party, volunteers are needed to wear our animal costumes at events and functions at the Zoo and out in the community. We also need cheerful and attentive escorts to speak for the animal characters, pass out zoo coupons, and answer basic questions about the Zoo.

The costumes are somewhat heavy and hot, and are best suited to people in good physical condition. Escorts should be comfortable in a crowd.
